Cheering Chingiz Khan's Ephemeral Empire
Shirzad Azad - 10/9/2006
The Mongolians are celebrating the 800th anniversary of 1206, the year in which a warrior named Temujin united the nomadic steppe tribes and took the title Chingiz Khan, or universal ruler. Many events have being held with culmination of festivities named Mongolia’s national holiday, Naadam, in July and another big festival at the former Mongolian capital, Kharakorum, last August.
