She had interviewed main leaders over the past decade. A bomb exploded in her car few hours ago. According to reports, her hand and leg had to be amputated immediately. Reports say her condition is critical. Sources indicated that she has been interviewing politicians about the Syrian presence in Lebanon and the disarming of militias. Over the past few weeks, the leader of a an armed organization has threatened critics with violence. He has said: "we will cut the hands that would try to touch the weapons of the resistance." According to reports, this terror act against a female journalist would trigger wide dipolomatic and popular protests. Many among us at the WLCU knew May since 1988. The CFA will be in contact with the United Nations and other Governments to protest this barbaric act against a leading female journalist in Lebanon. All commissions and representatives of the CFA are asked to raise this issue in the media and with Governments. Anwar Wazen studied at St. Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, earning a Master's degree in Economics. He lived in several countries in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, working on country risk exposure for American and Arab Banks. In Brussels, Mr. Wazen became an activist and lobbyist for the Lebanese cause and contributed many articles promoting freedom of Lebanon from the Syrian occupation, which were published by political web sites and Lebanese newsmedia.
