Anthony Stroe interviewed Boaz Haetni, one of the leaders of Homesh First, a movement to re-populate the abandoned settlement.
Q: Why return to Homesh?
A: Homesh will break the Law of Disengagement, which forbids Jews to enter a certain area. Homesh is northern Samaria. Shonesh is the closest town to Homesh. Homesh is an important place it's very strategic for Israel because it's on a hill top where you can see Mount Hermon, Haifa and Tel- Aviv. Shomrei Shomron is the closest Israeli town. Nablus is the closest Arab city 12 km away. Sanur is the closest town, it's five km from Homesh. On the eastern slope it's open to build.
Q: How will the residents of Homesh protect themselves without the I.D.F.? A: I.D.F. will protect Homesh and the residents of Homesh will protect themselves. The religious people are a major part of the Army.
Q: Do you have support of the Israeli people ?
A: A referendum would pass. The government will fall if all of Judea and Samaria are given to to the Palestinians and a civil war in Israel would result. There are nearly three hundred thousand people living in Judea and Samaria. There are over two hundred thousand Jews living in East Jerusalem.
Q: How many people will live in Homesh ?
A: Start with one person.
Q: What's next after Homesh is re-established?
A: The future of Israel lies in the hands of the settlers. They're strong and determined, the opposite of the rest of the Israeli population, which is caving in and ready to give land away for peace which doesn't work as has been shown in Lebanon and Gush katif and the four towns in Samaria that were given away to the Palestinians.
Q: Who is the leader of Homesh First ?
A: There is no one leader. Everybody helps. We're a team.
Q: Who was the man arrested and put in jail?
A: Gad Eshel
Q: Why was he put in jail ?
A: He was put in jail for being in the area.
