Home >> Middle East >> Iran Email Print The Persian Empire in the Middle East is consolidated Reza Hossein Borr - 7/11/2008 The shift of power to Hezbollah in Lebanon consolidated the Persian Empire in the Middle East. The Iranians always craved to reinstate their Empire after it was destroyed by the Arabs. Now by plotting, clandestine agreements, smart political manoeuvring and military strategies, the Persians have been able to reintroduce their Empire again in the Middle East. First it was Iraq which was the major barrier towards the advancement of Persians in the Middle East. The United States of America removed that formidable barrier for them and paved their way for further march in the heart of Arabs lands.
The shift of power in Lebanon to Hezbollah is now official. Hezbollah's victory in Lebanon was officially recognised by all Arab countries and different Lebanese groups that were opposed to Hezbollah. This was announced as a victory for Lebanon and for all people but in fact it is only a victory for Hezbollah and Shia people of Lebanon at the cost of Sunnis and Christians. The Arab League meeting in Doha had to accept the conditions of Hezbollah to agree to withdraw its forces from Beirut. The conditions of Hezbollah were not easy to accept as the Arab league and the Lebanese government and other Christian and Sunni groups had resisted them for many years. The first condition was that the Hezbollah must have the veto power in Lebanese government and therefore, every decision which is made by the Lebanese government must be approved by Hezbollah. This authorisation gives the Hezbollah the ultimate power to direct Lebanese government towards the kind of decisions that they want to make in future. In fact the decision process has been diverted from Lebanese government to the Hezbollah headquarters. The second condition was that the person who is approved by Hezbollah can become the president of Lebanon. The person who is supposed to become president is the chief of the army who kept the army neutral while the Hezbollah occupied Beirut and the areas that they were under the influence of Sunni and Christian groups. The third condition was forming the national unity government which gave lion's share in the government to Hezbollah. The new unity government will be practically a government who is under the influence of Hezbollah.
Today's victory was the result of two years of careful preparation, military training, political manoeuvring and advancing hidden agendas that empowered the Hezbollah to capture Beirut in less than two days and force all Arab governments and Lebanese different political and military factions, including the government, to accept its supremacy in Lebanon. Lebanon is now officially under the control of Hezbollah and Hezbollah is officially under the control of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria. The Shia crescent has been realised. The Shia governments of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon have achieved a dream that was far beyond logical of thinking before the occupation of Iraq by the United States of America and its allies. With the materialisation of Shia crescent, the Persian Empire was consolidated in the heart of Arab land. What the Iranians always wanted and what the Arabs always detested became a reality.
While the Islamic Republic of Iran was engaged in intense diplomatic and public relations with the Arab world, it was also engaged in preparing the Hezbollah to the point that it achieved an unexpected victory very quickly and force the Arabs to recognise and accept its victory and supremacy in Lebanon. The Arab people and Arab governments believed all this time that Iran had changed its policy of empowering Hezbollah for endearing itself to Arab governments. Iran fooled all of them in such remarkable political manoeuvring that they would never think. Ayatollah Khomeini had a burning desire, a distant dream for having Shia crescent from Iran to Lebanon. When he was organising his revolution in Iran, he mentioned the idea of Shia crescent to Westerners. Now his dream is nearly achieved. It is just a matter of time when some other developments will force many Christians and Sunnis to migrate from Lebanon and allow the Shias to become the majority population of Lebanon and it will be at that time that unity government will collapse and Islamic Republic of Lebanon will emerge. The main losers will not be in fact the Sunnis as they have already lost but the Christians who have been manipulated by the Shia groups.
With the veto power of Hezbollah in the Lebanese government, the United Nations investigation into the death of Hariri and other Lebanese political leaders will be directed to new outcomes which will benefit Hezbollah rather than revealing the truth. Those who had hoped that the UN investigation will prove that Syria and Iranian were guilty of killings of Lebanese politicians will be very much disappointed. Iranians’ smart political manoeuvring and foreign policy strategy in the Middle East not only brought victory to Hezbollah but also acquitted Syria of the serious crimes that it had committed in Lebanon. It also forced Israel to begin negotiations with Syria. It is likely that Israel will give some major concessions to Syria. In fact Iran's smart strategy not only defeated the Arab governments in their support for Lebanese government but also forced Israel to review its policies toward Syria and Palestine.
There is a great concept in psychology. It says that what is heard is less important than what is not and what is said is less important than what is not. The hidden agenda is always more important than the open agenda which is open for discussion and then you see somebody gradually is creeping into agenda a new item which is intended to bring new outcomes which are not part of the published agenda. The Hezbollah of Lebanon, like the Mahdi Army of Iraq and Hamas of Palestine, always had hidden agendas that were not visible until they materialised militarily in political scene. Nobody believed that the Hamas of Palestine would take arms against its own people and kill the Palestinians and separate Gazza from the rest of Palestine. The Hezbollah of Lebanon that once was the champion of resistance and Hassan Nasrallah, its leader, who was seen as a Lebanese compatriot, is moving gradually to advance his hidden agenda in the form of occupation of Lebanon and turning it into a Shia country like Iraq.
Nobody believed that when the United States of America occupied Iraq and removed the Sunni Saddam Hussein, the Shias were allowed to seize the power and begin the massacre of the Sunnis; nobody believed that the Hezbollah of Lebanon is transforming Lebanon into a Shia state as the supreme leader of Iran once said that his only goal in life before he dies was the establishment of a Shia state in Lebanon. Ayatollah Khamenei is still alive and healthy. The Hezbollah is moving openly towards becoming the most important and the most powerful military and political group in Lebanon. They captured Beirut without any major resistance. They defeated their enemies quickly. When they captured Beirut they could have captured the Prime Minister: Fouad Seniora, Saad Al Harriri and Valid Jumbalat. They changed the balance of power in Lebanon completely. Friends and foes know that. It is the balance of power that decides the fate of countries and not negotiations or moral principles. Negotiations only consolidate the military victories as the Doha agreement officially admitted the victory of Hezbollah and submitted to its demands.
What is important is the surprise that the Arab leaders expressed at this issue. Some analysts said the United States of America was very much embarrassed when its allies were defeated in less than two days by Hezbollah of Lebanon which is in fact the Hezbollah of Iran. Yet, I have not seen any material sign that the United States of America is truly embarrassed, but I see in fact, a kind of anger which covers a hidden satisfaction. The Arab leaders are not only surprised and embarrassed but they are in deep shock. They know that they have lost Lebanon to Iran as they did lost Iraq to Iran. They know that the Persian Empire has been consolidated. From Afghanistan to Lebanon, this is the Persian Empire. They know that there will be a next one to fall in the lap of the Persian Empire.
