Sheikh Dr. Taisir al-Tamimi, Supreme Judge of Palestine and the president of Jurisdiction Supreme Council urged the Iraqi government to remove the siege from the Iranian refugees residing in Ashraf city and to acknowledge their rights in the context of international law and humanitarian treatment. He underscored that their expulsion and displacement is in contradiction with the international law. Dr. Tamimi called on the Iraqi government for implementation of international laws, covenants and conventions, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention that asks for observation of human rights. He also demanded for being committed to what the Divine religions have assigned as to the need for providing an honest life and full protection for Iranian refugees in Ashraf city and also the Palestinian refugees in Baladiyat district near Baghdad against any attack. He also emphasized that the faith and humanity brotherhood that relates them to the people of brother Iraq requires that refugees and civilians be encountered impartially and be kept away from the consequences of political stances and disputes and armed conflicts.
The Palestine’s Supreme Judge said that brother Iraq will never enjoy genuine security and stability unless it protects all inhabitants and their rights, lives and properties, including its refugee guests who have been deprived from living in their homeland for reasons beyond their will, and await enthusiastically their return to their country.
Shahriar Kia is a political analyst and spokesman for the residents of Camp Ashraf, Iraq, where he resides. Shahriar was educated in the United States, graduating from the University of Texas, in computer science.
