Quote by Equatorial Guinean Presidential Candidate Gustavo Envela on January 2nd, 2011
In a word, remarkable, is how the uncontested, non-fraudulent, and politically impossible reality of the election of Barack Hussein Obama, can best be articulated.
The odds, history, American issues of race and class were not on his side. Yet, like a phoenix, coupled with all of life's thermo-dynamism, he prevailed. Yet, how did such an improbable, no IMPOSSIBLE-reality come to be. Well, the secrets lay in a brief glance of ALL OF OUR HISTORIES.
Let's take this historical passage, which shall be safe as Harriet Tubman's "Underground Railroad"--together.
Whether discussing in Africa, "Colonialism" or "Neocolonialism"; or in the United States of America, the quest for Coloreds, then Negroes, then Blacks, and today African Americans their still unsettled mandate for "Civil Rights"--or better yet "Civil Rights Wrapped in Our Common Humanity"-the issue remains unchanged through time--"Mankind has always had the naturally and undeniable thirst to be Free, to be Loved, and to Be Respected.
The above trifecta has withstood Slavery, Jim Crow--collaterally articulated in Daniel Patrick Moynihan's "Tangle of Pathology", and modern day subtleties of institutional racism.
But in the 21st century--beginning in part with the election of Barack Hussein Obama, the "slighty racist and skew modalities used to judge ALL people of color-unwed parents, rampant unemployment, crime, high levels of incarceration"--appeared to be suspended, on a historical day, in November 2008beyond the United States of America".
Gone were the days of Colonial Super Powers in Africa such as England (Kenya-birth nation of Barack Hussein Obama's father; Barack was born in Hawaii on ) France (Cameroon and Gabon), and Spain (Equatorial Guinea-country of my birth on January 26th, 1968--3 months prior to the assassiantion of Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee) dominated the language, culture and customs of socieites that were centuries ahead of their 'colonial masters".
Yet "they" collectively endured, survived, and thrived in motivating their sons, grandsons; daughters and granddaughters, with full knowledge that their generation be better, bolder, and braver than those whom shoulders that valiantly stood upon.
Therefore in 2011, from Tunis to Tripoli; Algeria to Alexandria--the ancestral spirits of those who suffered, fought, struggled, and REBELLED-like Lazarus--came "roaring out of their caves", wondering what had become of the world they had known and dreamt of partaking-made their presence known.
In protests (for and against the status quo), cries for justice, freedom, and democracy--the masses gathered. Under the humble yet firm guidance of a true American President-Barack Hussein Obama, who actively sought to recruit the world community to "share the costs and burdens" of averting another history making, humanitarian catastrophe, such as occured in previous US Administrations in the Balkans and Rwanda-he acted in swiftly, in an ever evolving "Doctrine".
Not in 365 days, as was the case in Kosovo, but in 31 days in places until recently known as, Bengazi. We know that inspiration, with a heavy dose of perspiration, went into transatlantic negotiations to create an "Arab Spring".
As summer approaches in the the coming weeks, we know, we HOPE, that change will be a close companion wherever benevolent and self-perceived omnipotent leaders reside and wherever they may secret themselves and their 'People's National Treasuries'--from Amman to Abuja; Monte Carlo to Malabo.
As the world watches and waits for success and/or failure, citizenries throughout every corner of the globe, we must keep these facts in the forefront of our daily realities when seeking out "TRUE LEADERS" as opposed to "ORDINARY MANAGERS". Here is the difference:
LEADERS: People depend on them. They often lean on them. When things go badly, people complain. When things go well, people often do not always remember to credit them or even say 'thank you, job well done.' In brief, being an influential leader will be an incessant drain on one's emotional, spiritual, and personal resources. Where do leaders go to 'refuel' (without oil) themselves?
MANAGERS: One must be cautius in not confusing leadership with management. Though an ordinary manager can often keep an operation, any usual and customary operation running, only a TRUE LEADER can motivate people (towards their own Presidential aspirations in their countries of origin) to achieve those CHANGES that not only meet, but exceed their own needs. One must not denigrate managers, for they too have their niche--the global community needs good, if not, ordinary managers. But let this FACT be very clear: MANAGEMENT IS NOT LEADERSHIP.
One can see the difference in the United States from 2001-2008 (MBA from Harvard); and 2009-present (JD from Harvard).
The 'jury' is still out on both counts, as the benefit of history shall be our only just, if not impartial, geopolitical parameter. But to the world's Dictators and Their Purchasers of Tyranny, we forcefully proclaim "Caveat Emptor".
Nonetheless, the perputual and ever expanding business of governance on a case by case basis, while not compromising the Rules of Law and/or The Rules of Engagement-constructive or otherwise-thankfully, does not cease nor desist.
Equatorial Guinean Presidental Candidate.
